Mentoring Matters: Get It Right

 Course Description​​

This course prepares Academic Leaders to design and lead effective mentorship programs for faculty who are new to your school—whether they’re early-career educators or experienced teachers joining a new community. Participants will explore research-based practices that ensure mentoring programs have an immediate, positive impact on the well-being and sense of belonging of new faculty.

You’ll learn how to structure meaningful communication and professional learning opportunities that support both mentees and mentors, helping mentors grow in their leadership while fostering supportive, trusting relationships. The course emphasizes how strong mentoring programs contribute to instructional excellence and build a collaborative, inclusive school culture.

 

 

Course Objectives

  • Develop and apply mentoring strategies that support both new faculty and the mentors guiding them, with a focus on professional growth, well-being, and a strong start in your school community.

  • Outline a mentoring program design that aligns with your school’s culture and priorities, and equip mentors to guide new faculty with confidence, care, and clarity.
